For Hospice Coordinators ·
What you'll accomplish
By the end of this guide, you'll know how to use Claude to quickly interpret dense CMS hospice regulations, convert them into plain-language action items, and generate compliance documentation checklists — turning a 90-minute regulations review into a 10-minute task.
What you'll need
Go to {{tool:Claude.url}} and click Sign up. Use your work email. Complete the verification step. You'll land on the Claude chat interface — a simple text box.
What you should see: A clean chat interface with a text input box at the bottom and a "New Chat" button in the sidebar.
Each regulatory question works best in a fresh conversation. Click New Chat in the left sidebar. The previous conversation won't carry into this one.
Go to the CMS website or your agency's policy documents and find the relevant section. For hospice, common sources include:
Select and copy the relevant section of text (even if it's several paragraphs).
In the Claude chat box, type your question and paste the regulatory text after it. Example: "I'm a hospice coordinator. Please summarize this CMS regulation in plain language and give me a checklist of what I need to document for each IDG meeting to be compliant. [PASTE REGULATION TEXT HERE]"
What you should see: Claude will respond with a clear summary followed by a numbered checklist of documentation requirements.
You can continue asking Claude questions in the same conversation based on what it explained. For example: "What happens if a required team member isn't present at the IDG meeting — is there a compliant alternative?" or "Can you turn this into a form I can print and use during each IDG?"
Claude doesn't save your conversations between sessions (unless you have a Claude Pro account with Projects). Copy any useful summaries, checklists, or templates and paste them into a Word document or your notes app for future reference.
